About Preserve Lafayette
Preserve Lafayette was founded by four longtime Lafayette residents who have volunteered with our city for many years.
Karen Norback
Karen has lived in Lafayette since 1987. She has worked on various campaigns in support of open space and managed growth, and served on the advisory committees for the 2003 and 2021 Comprehensive Plan updates as well as the East Lafayette Advisory Committee for the Willoughby Corner affordable housing project. She received the Mayor’s Citation of Excellence in recognition for her vision and work resulting in the Thomas Farm project and barn on city-owned open space. Beginning in 2001, along with her late husband, she published a weekly e-newsletter about Lafayette for over six years, and currently publishes a Substack newsletter called Reports From a Political Hobbyist in Lafayette, Colorado.
Grant Swift
Grant moved to Lafayette in 1990. Since then, he has served on the Wildlife Task Force, the Outdoor Classroom Task Force, the Lafayette Historical Society board and the Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee. He holds a BS degree in wildlife biology and is a retired teacher, having taught at Angevine Middle School and Alicia Sanchez Elementary. Currently, he is a member of the Historic Preservation Commission, the Open Space Advisory Board and the Land Use Code Working Group.
Vicky Uhland
In 2005, Vicky moved herself, her dog, and her writing and editing company to a historically landmarked house on the west side of Old Town. Since then, she has served on the Friends of Public Road Working Group and the East Lafayette Advisory Committee for Willoughby Corner affordable housing. She’s currently a community member of the Land Use Code Working Group, which gives input on the city’s new development code project.
Seth White
A Lafayette resident since 2006, Seth served on the Historic Preservation Commission from 2015-17 and was involved in the creation of the Old Town Overlay District. He currently serves on the Historic Preservation Commission again, as well as the Land Use Code Working Group. After 20 years as a research engineer, he now works as a handyman, humanitarian logistics manager for MSF (and a middling web designer). He is also president of Lafayette Friends of the Garden, a nonprofit that organizes the annual Lafayette Old Town Garden Tour.
